Resources
All students and their parents have access to UNIFROG, an online platform designed to support students in exploring their future pathways after secondary school. It helps them with career exploration, comparing educational and training opportunities, accessing up to date Labour Market Information and managing the application process for universities, apprenticeships, and other options.
Key Stage 3
Through out KS3 careers education is delivered to pupils as part of the LLW class. Students carry out self-assessment to identify qualities and skills, develop skills to research career pathways and options and consider becoming an entrepreneur. Students are taught how to access and utilise Unifrog. They are given the tools to make informed decisions for KS4 subjects.
Key Stage 4
Careers is delivered through career lessons and our enrichment period. Students build upon skills developed in KS3 to research Post 16 Options. Students are encouraged to avail of a wide range of opportunities for Virtual work experience and Webinars. There are also some opportunities for face-to-face work experience. Students all have at least 1 meeting with our Department of Economy Career Advisor, either in small focus groups or individual, whichever is most appropriate. There are visits in from post 16 education providers and students are encouraged to attend Open Days.
Key Stage 5
Students receive 2 periods of Careers each week. This supports them in their UCAS and other applications. All students can participate in at least 1 week of Face-to-face work experience and there are additional opportunities for Virtual Work experience. Visiting speakers come to lessons from universities, colleges and major employers. Support and preparation is given to students for interviews. Students attend SERC for a tailored information Day and also attend the Careers summit at the Eikon Centre. Students are informed of and encouraged to attend other open days at FE and HE establishments.
