School House System

There are 5 Houses in Fort Hill Integrated College.  These are named after rivers in Northern Ireland – Bann, Erne, Foyle, Lagan and Shimna.  Your school tie will include the colour of your House in a stripe below the badge.

Heads of Houses for 2018/19

  • Bann – Mrs L Moon

  • Erne – Ms K Patterson

  • Foyle – Ms M Carey

  • Lagan – Mr J Mills

  • Shimna – Mrs R Mc Geary

You will be given an opportunity to achieve Honour Marks for your House for the standard of your work, 100% attendance, etc.  Be careful you do not get Order Marks for poor work, poor behaviour for example.

Your HONOUR MARKS & ORDER MARKS are recorded by your Form Teacher. The pupil with the most Honour Marks in their class at the end of December and at the end of June will be TOP OF THE FORM.  This will be included in his/her Progress File.

Honour Marks are also rewarded with merit stickers which lead to MERIT BADGES.  You will receive BRONZE, SILVER and eventually a GOLD badge by working hard to build up the number of Honour Marks you achieve.  These are very special awards.

Pupils who compete in sport can also achieve points for their Houses.

Work together to ensure your HOUSE is the best by getting as many HONOUR marks as possible and avoiding ORDER marks at all costs.

If you get 5 Order Marks in any week you will be issued with a DETENTION.  This means that you will have to stay in school for one hour after school the following week.

A Detention Card will be sent home via your student planner giving details of the reasons why you have been given the Order Marks.

This card must be signed by your parent or guardian and returned to your Form Teacher the next day.

In Fort Hill Integrated College our Detention system is designed to encourage pupils to think about their behaviour or their attitude to work and to encourage them to improve in all aspects of their school life.

We also operate a system of SUBJECT SUPPORT which is designed to offer extra help and time to pupils who are having difficulty with a particular subject.  This is NOT a detention and should be seen as great opportunity to address work related problems in a quiet time after school.

REMEMBER!!

IN FORT HILL INTEGRATED COLLEGE WE HAVE VERY HIGH STANDARDS OF WORK AND BEHAVIOUR.

WE EXPECT YOU TO WORK HARD AND BEHAVE WITH RESPECT AND CONSIDERATION AT ALL TIMES.
